When you enter the front door of our building, the first room you get to is the hall. Here is where the children keep their outerwear and shoes. The picture shows our main room, placed directly inside from the hall. In this room we do almost everything - play, eat, rest, experiment and so on...
In the "beargroup" there are 14 children (soon 15), ages 3-5, and besides this room shown above we also have a smaller room mostly used for construction, board games and jigsaw puzzles. We also share one other room with the "foxgroup", where our kitchen is situated.

Hi! How many nannys you have in one group? Is it similar than in Finland, 1 kinderkarten teacher and 2 nannys in one group (if there are not any kids with special needs)? I think the size of one group is something about 20 kids.
ReplyDeleteWe are currently 26 children and five teachers in our "big" group. (Bears and foxes together.) Three of us are preschool teachers and two of us nannies.
DeleteWhat qualifications do the nanny's need to have?
DeleteTo get a permanent employment, you need to go through with a three year education in children knowledge and care, in high school. Although, now a days most employers only hire preschool teachers/elementary school teachers.
DeleteThe space is very open allowing for staff and children to adapt it as they need, I like that freedom.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the corner with the shelving used for. Looks like a creative arts space, hard to see.
I have recently held a creative arts workshop with the students and we discussed spaces, I love the idea of providing open ended materials for children to access, as they desire, for the purpose of creativity.
We present almost all our materials in open shelves, so it's easy for the children to choose and use their creativity and imagination. The shelves in the right corner, holds all kinds of things needed for art work, such as painting, drawing and beading.
