My name is Linda and I work as a teacher in a preschool in the central parts of Gothenburg, Sweden. The children that I work with is between two and five years of age. There are 26 children and 5 teachers in the group and we are divided into two smaller units named "bears" and "foxes". We are situated on the second floor of our building, picture being taken on a rainy day...
Most of our families are in a good financial state and live in the area nereby the preschool. Very few of the children are bilingual.
I've been a teacher for 12 years now and my main focus when working with younger children, is to create a healty and safe environment for them to grow in. Social skills, science, math and using computer devices together with the kids, are my favourite subjects when working in our Swedish preshools.
I'm looking forward to all new information from our different countries! /Linda

Much like Anders' building, I am intrigued. I look forward to seeing what goes on inside. The wooden stairs make me think of a tree house.
ReplyDeleteThere are alot of prams at the foot of the stairs, do many of you families walk to your service?
It's the same building as Anders, actually. We're colleagues! The building in which we reside, is temporary and our preschool will move in to renovated facilities in 2015. Most of our families live nereby the preschool and either use public transportation or walk to us.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to see mutli story services - I don't think we have that many in Western Australia.
ReplyDeleteWhat sort of renovations are happening to your preschool?
Here in Gothenburg, these kind of buildings are rather common. They are mostly used as temporary facilities, when there are renovations going on or when the need of childcare exceeds the capacity of the ordinary preschools.
DeleteOur preschool is normally located in an old brick building, but the entire house is being picked apart and rebuilt again, due to mold. Everything will be brand new when we return, both on the outside and inside!
